1919 Catalog
Central Glassworks
Krys-Tol : The Glass of Quality
This is a fine reproduction of a catalog issued in 1919 by Central Glass Works of Wheeling, West Virginia. We acquired the original from a dealer in Australia, so it's travelled quite a bit through the years.
Our original was basically in decent condition considering its age, although it had a torn and stained cover, shredded edges, and some worm damage throughout. Fortunately, only a few of the pictures themselves were damaged. We have digitized our original catalog at an extremely high resolution then photo-edited the pages to repair any damage - on one page, we show and explain the restoration process for a representative piece.
The 75-page catalog has an extensive index, and shows hundreds of objects, and lists sizes and prices. Some prices are crossed out and new ones written in. I have left these, since collectors may find them useful -- but because of where this catalog was acquired, those prices may be in Australian dollars, not US currency. The catalog is a treasure of early twentieth century West Virginia glass.
Among the many types of cut, molded, and etched pieces are:
- Tumblers.
- Goblets.
- Covered jars and dishes of all sorts, some with spoons.
- Footed compotes.
- Pitchers and jugs.
- Floriform bowls and platters.
- Open and stoppered decanters.
- Open serving dishes and trays.
- Salt and pepper shakers, and condiment sets.
- Candlesticks.
- Flower vases.

We have digitally reproduced and restored our original catalog at an extremely high resolution, and printed the pages on a heavy gloss stock. This is not a photocopy - our methods allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail. Any colors are daylight-corrected. Some of our fine reproduction catalogs are already in museum research collections.
This reproduction catalog is meant to be a permanent reference. Its true spiral binding, unlike a comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. The front and back covers are printed on heavy marbled cover stock, protected by sturdy clear vinyl outer covers. A wonderful and unusual gift for yourself or someone special.
