We are pleased to present our fine reproduction of a classic 1927 portfolio of stencil designs: Ideas & Studies in Stencilling & Decorating by A.Desaint. This is a really gorgeous book, with stunning designs in high Art Deco style, and it was great fun to develop the reproduction. We have not merely scanned this book - all images have been professionally repaired and restored.

The original book has 71 pages: 40 black & white plates showing hundreds of designs, and 4 color pages. There are also 26 pages, with illustrations of tools and materials, devoted to theories and methods of stencil design and application.

We've added two more color pages, for a total of 6 color pages, to give you a better idea of how these stencil designs might appear in use. Each of these new pages has a digitally colored design with extra pattern repeats added.

We have digitally reproduced and restored our original catalog at an extremely high resolution, and printed the pages on a heavy gloss stock. This is not a photocopy - our methods allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail. Colors, if any, are daylight-corrected. Some of our fine reproduction catalogs are already in museum research collections.

This reproduction catalog is meant to be a permanent reference. Its true spiral binding, unlike a comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. The front and back covers are printed on heavy marbled cover stock, protected by sturdy clear vinyl outer covers. A wonderful and unusual gift for yourself or someone special.
