1912 Catalog

Howard Watch Co.

By the early part of this century, the Howard Watch Company was one of the preeminent manufacturers of timepieces in the United States. The company evolved from the Howard & Davis company established in 1842, which made many types of mechanical devices, including balances and even fire engines! Gradually they began specializing in fine timepieces, for which they became so well known.

This is our fine reproduction of the 48-page Howard Watch 1912 catalog, which displays an attractive range of pocket watches of various prices and finishes. Each watch is shown on a separate page, with the facing page having descriptions of the various options for movement and case, and prices for the various configurations. The illustration detail is so refined that one can read the engravings on the movement. The catalog also includes a short introduction, with a reproduction of a painting of the original founder.

We have digitally reproduced and restored the original catalog at an extremely high resolution, slightly larger than its original size. In addition, the pages are printed on a heavy gloss paper reminiscent of the original, and in the original colors. This is not a photocopy - our methods allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail -- our catalogs are already in several museum research collections.

The reproduction catalog has a true spiral binding that, unlike a comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. Heavy clear vinyl covers protect the front and back, and the cover image is reproduced on an even heavier weight paper than the inside pages.

This beautiful catalog is meant to be a permanent reference for the collector or other interested reader.
